1975 a local farmer in China discovered a a pit to the east of the tomb of
Ch’in Shih-huang-ti. Discovered inside were six thousand life-size figures of
men and horses with their chariots, each individually fashioned. The original terra-cotta
clay warriors are unprecedented in number (8,099) and size which makes
them one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries.
